What Is Plug’n Drive and What Do They Do?

Plug’n Drive is a not-for-profit organization that has been working to accelerate electric vehicle (EV) adoption in Canada since 2011. Their programs include the world's first Electric Vehicle Discovery Centre (EVDC), the Electric Vehicle Roadshow series, and the Mobile EV Education Trailer (MEET). Their vision is to help Canada achieve its goal of 100% electric vehicle sales by 2035 or earlier.

What Is the EVs Are for EVeryone Cross-Canada Tour?

Plug’n Drive’s EVs Are for EVeryone Cross-Canada Tour brings EV education and test drives to Canadians across the country, including smaller communities, where EVs are still rare. Because this tour focuses on education and is brand neutral, you’ll avoid sales pressure.

NRCan’s Zero-Emission Vehicle Education and Awareness Project supports programs that show Canadians, through both reliable information and practical experiences, how an EV can fit into their everyday lives.

What Are the Benefits of Driving an EV?

EVs are still unfamiliar to many drivers. However, they come with many benefits:

1.        Zero tailpipe emissions: EVs produce no greenhouse gas emissions, reducing your carbon footprint.

2.        Lower fuel costs: Electricity is generally cheaper than gasoline.

3.        Convenient refuelling: EVs can be charged at home, and many new developments are installing EV charging infrastructure in their parking lots.

4.        Reduced maintenance costs: Fewer moving parts and no oil changes mean significant savings in time and money.

5.        Quiet ride: Electric motors run much more quietly than combustion engines.

6.        Instant torque: EVs deliver smooth, responsive acceleration immediately.

Trying Your First EV and Getting to Know Your EV Technician

Each EVs Are for EVeryone tour runs one to two days and offers up to two EV test drive workshops. Participating shops host Plug’n Drive's MEET and one or two electric vehicles for local drivers to get behind the wheel of an EV for the first time.

Drivers can also get to know their local NexDrive service centre. Ask any questions you have about EV adoption and driving. Our NexDrive technicians are passionate about EVs, but they also service all EV makes and models. That means you’ll get neutral information on what owning an EV can mean for you.

As Canada's only national network built specifically to service and repair electric vehicles, NexDrive shops are the next stop for drivers who make the switch.
